Indiana: Father's Rights Central

I am not sure of what Evan Bayh's record was while he was governor in Indiana from 1988-96, but it might be interesting to look at. However, when he was elected to the US Senate in 1998, that was a sad day for mothers everywhere. His Fatherhood Initiatives have been successful in pulling money away from TANF government monies (from children, many living in poverty) and funneling it to fathers groups. Fathers groups that have specific funds set aside from these programs to spend on trying to get custody of their children. Now, with Senate Bill 1626, which ensures money to fathers groups coming from our social security funds:

S.1626
Title: A bill to amend title XIV of the Social Security Act to ensure funding for grants to promote responsible fatherhood and strengthen low-income families, and for other purposes. Sponsor: Sen Bayh, Evan [IN] (introduced 6/14/2007)
Cosponsors (2) Related Bills: H.R.3395 Latest Major Action: 6/14/2007 Referred to Senate committee. Status: Read twice and referred to the Committee on Finance.

COSPONSORS(2), ALPHABETICAL [followed by Cosponsors withdrawn]: (Sort: by date) Sen Lincoln, Blanche L. [AR] - 7/9/2007Sen Obama, Barack [IL] - 6/14/2007

Lord help all the mothers in this country if there is an Obama-Bayh ticket this fall...
